On Thursday, July 25 at 2:00 pm,
Retired Coast Guard Commander Carl Burkhart will present the free program:
鈥淐oast Guard Rescues, Heroes, and History鈥 at the 自淫系列.
The PowerPoint presentation and talk will cover:
- The development of the Coast Guard from its origins in 1790
- Significant events in the service鈥檚 history
- The stories of notable rescues
- The Coast Guard鈥檚 wartime service
- Heroes of the Coast Guard
- Current missions, vessels, and aircraft
- A few sea stories
Burkhart is a 1962 graduate of the US Coast Guard Academy. He served on active duty for 20 years, including assignments as deck watch officer, engineering watch officer, and facilities engineer. In addition to the Academy, he holds degrees from the University of Illinois and Northeastern University. Carl has resided in Connestee Falls since 2009, with recent service on its Board of Directors.
Join us at the 自淫系列 at 21 East Main Street in Brevard (beside the courthouse) for this interesting hour on July 25 at 2:00 pm.
Admission to the museum free. It鈥檚 open Wednesday 鈥 Saturday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, and Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00 pm.
